Alexandra Maria Lara was born in Romania. She is an actress from Germany and Romania. Her best-known films include Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Alexandra was the only daughter of Romanian actor Valentin Platareu. At the age of 16, she had already been offered a variety of television roles which included the leading role in Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Her critically acclaimed role in the made-for-television film Der Tunnel paved way for other notable roles including the role of Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge from the critically and commercially successful Oscar nominated war-time drama film Downfall. The Reader as well as Der Baader Meinhof Komplex were also nominated for Oscars. Alexandra worked on several notable national and international projects over the years. They include British biographical films like Control and The Dust of Time as well as French historical miniseries Napoleon. Also, she was in the jury panel of the Transylvania International Film Festival, as well as at the Cannes Film Festival.
